A Jumeoni is a traditional Korean pouch for carrying small items with an opening that is closed with string. It is worn around the waist or carried in the hand. Since traditional Korean clothing (Hanbok) does not have any pockets, people of all ages used to carry Jumeoni back in the day. They are gifted to relatives and descendants on New Year's Day because having a Jumeoni on oneself will ward off evil spirits and attract good fortune in the New Year. Jumeoni can be divided into two types: Gwijumeoni, which has a square shape with angled corners, and Durujumeoni, which has a rounded shape.
